Welcome to the hospitable land of Kokshetau!
Kokshetau is located north of Astana. The village of Sandyktau can be reached daily by bus or taxi from Astana or Kokshetau.
The nature of Kokshetau offers unique opportunities for recreation. In the forests are wonderful mushrooms, many medicinal berries and herbs: sea buckthorn, currant, St. John's wort, sage, mint, grass, yarrow and others. Fauna is surprisingly diverse: elk, roe deer, badgers, foxes, squirrels, ferrets, grouse, pigeons, partridges and other species of animals. Forests and lakes are rich in animals and fish.
From Kokshetau you can make memorable trips to the museum of Shokan Ualikhanov, the memorial complex "Karasai Batyr", the ancient burial place of Karsak, archaeological monument of Botai, where, perhaps, for the first time a man tamed a horse. You will see national traditions and ethno-shows, ride horses and go on interesting hiking trails.
The village of Sandyktau was named because of the mountain of the same name (translated from Kazakh as the Sunduk Mountain). There is such a legend that there is a chest of gold on Mount Sandyktau. The height of Mount Sandyktau is 784 meters above sea level.
